Mia’s Story

Founder and Director of MawdsLeigh, Mia Mawdsley is an entrepreneur and self-development expert who has been proactively transforming her own life for over 8 years. In developing her mental intelligence and becoming aware of her freedom and power to choose, for her young years Mia is an exceptional representative for her generation.

Mia’s early life was complicated and dysfunctional – being brought up in a single parent, alcoholic home and watching on a daily basis the façade of happiness but experiencing beneath the surface the struggle, pain and loneliness.

At the age of 14, after meeting for a brief spell with the father she had never met, the stress and emotional turmoil became too much and she ended up close to death. This was the turning point in transforming her life. She now knew she only had two choices: recovery or death.

Mia chose recovery and one of the first principles she put into practice was the principle of empowerment.

After leaving school at 16, with 8 standard grades, she joined one of the UK’s largest insurance companies. Having a proactive rather than a reactive approach and promoting her creativity, she increased her salary by £7,000 in an 8 month period.

Directing her energy towards positive pursuits, she went back to college to achieve the requirements for a place at university. As well as achieving her place at Edinburgh Napier University she also won most outstanding student of the year award.

In 2007, Mia attained 100% communication skills at the Royal Bank of Scotland and within 3 months she had achieved her 2 year goal.

Building on this achievement, whilst studying for her BA Honours in Business with Entrepreneurship, Mia founded MawdsLeigh concentrating on customer needs and innovation.

She is infinitely studying, teaching and presenting self-development. Mia is a certified yoga teacher, has entered the equestrian world in natural horsemanship developing packages in communication and trust, presents Currency Trading seminars and is accredited from Edinburgh Napier University BA (Hons) Business with Entrepreneurship. She has worked at the BBC developing new media skills, as well as BBC Scotland TV, Radio and Online.

Mia has travelled as far as India, Thailand and USA to advance her experience in self development. She has been taught by some of the world’s most renowned teachers including her mother Veronica Leigh, Sri BNS Iyengar, Swami Jamanagiri, Duncan Wong, Linda and Pat Parelli.
